Update to Heat Demon Kits July 12, 2016 11:52
Symtec has shifted its focus to make Heat Demon products more eco-friendly and reduce waste. We started last year by transitioning product packaging from plastic clamshells to recyclable corrugated boxes. This year, we will be removing excess items from our kits. What does that mean?
- Wire tap connectors will no longer be provided in any Heat Demon kit. These connectors splice the wire to create a connection, which causes tears the insulation and leaves wire exposed. Exposed wires can then oxidize and corrode due to the lack of insulation. For this reason, Symtec found many customers do not use the red-tab connectors and are simply thrown away. Heat Demon Engineers suggest soldering wires together and then heat shrinking the area. This will not only create a strong connection, but also limit potential failures.
- Zip ties will only be provided in thumb warmer kits. Symtec found that many customers do not use the provided zip ties and are simply thrown away.
- Printed instructions are slowly being phased out. All instructions can be found on our website. This not only reduces waste, but also allows real-time updates for less confusion.
